PAST MARES

Vorfreude (Marduc x Vanessa) was bred by Hans-Eberhard Schneider in 1982. He owned the mare Vanessa, who was also the mother of Van Deyk. His decision to breed  her to Marduc was a wise one, as the result was spectacular. Vorfreude was bought sight-unseen by Barr Trak Farm as a yearling and enjoyed her time there as a valued broodmare. She then came to Klarmond as a 17 year old mare, where she produced several quality foals by Polarmond and Impressionist. She spent her last days at Aqua Farms in Panama City, Florida, after having produced a filly and a colt for Joe Pimentel, both by Impressionist.

Schonheit (Kufstein x Serenade VI) was bred at the Gestut Horstein in 1983. She has had many beautiful foals who are being enjoyed by their owners. Schonheit came to Klarmond at the age of ten and had never been ridden. After on half hour of groundwork and introduction to the saddle and bridle, I was able to ride her without incident. The next day we went for an hour trail ride that was simply enjoyable. Her beauty is equal inside and out. She is spending the remainder of her years with Joe Pimentel at Aqua Farms in Panama City, Florida, where she continues to produce fine foals by Impressionist and Oscar.

Zeitgeist (Preussengeist x Zitzewitz) an ATA Honor Roll Mare, always lived up to her name which means “spirit of the times”. She was bred at Barr Trak Farm in Columbia, MO. in 1978. Her dam was Zitzewitz, who was one of the four most influential foundation mares of the American Trakehner. Zitzewitz was a daughter of J. Adana, who survived “the trek”, and is in many pedigrees today. She was an older mare when Barr Trak Farm obtained her and bred her to Preussengeist. Zeitgeist was named by Dr. von Velson of the German Verband as a wonderful example of the modern Trakehner mare at the 1984 ATA Annual Meeting. She arrived at Klarmond Trakehners in 1996, and immediately stepped into a very important role as a companion to Polarmond. These two “sweethearts” lived together, sharing a paddock and raising their 4 foals together. Zeitmassmond is owned by an amateur owner in California, Zeitsangmond is owned by an amateur owner in Alabama, Zeitlosmond has gone to Panama City, FL to join Joe Pimentel’s band of broodmares, and Zeitzeigen is four years old and for sale. I have always joked about Zeity’s foals being “dinosaurs”, as the names in their immediate pedigrees are prehistoric- they appear beyond 5 generations back in most other horses’ pedigrees. We were very sad to lose Zeitgeist in February of 2006 at the age of 28.

Birkenblute (Donauwind x Birke)was bred by Guenter Bertelmann in 1983. She was Northeast Jumper Champion in 1996 and Connecticut Jumper Champion in 1989. In 1991 she was twice the High Preliminary Champio at two of the HITS show in Poughkeepsie, NY. "BB" was a beautiful liver chestnut mare who was bred to Insterfurst, thenThoroughbred stallions during her breeding career until her last foal with Polarmond. She died November 2005 at the age of 22.

Taya (Amiego x Tanja X) was bred by John Krenger in 1981. She had several foals by the stallion Egmont before she came to Klarmond. She then produced three quality foals by Polarmond, including the outstanding mare Taubchen. Taya had a beautiful head and neck, short coupled body, and 3 expressive gaits. She died January 2007 at the age of 26.

Prisma (Pralat x Pfalzerin) was bred by Barr Trak Farm in  1980. She was purchased as a yearling by Elaine Cornell of Augusta, KS, then sold to Angie Coyner of Wichita. She was trained by Hector Karmina at Los Alamos Dressage Center, and then was sold to Klarmond in 1990. She produced several outstanding foals by Polarmond and died after giving birth to her last foal Prismet in 2000. Fasolt is a successful 3-Day Eventer for an amateur owner, and Prismet is showing and winning in California for a junior rider.

Domfee (Roland x Domhexe) was bred by Roswitha and Fritz Daemen-van Buren in 1982. She was found in 1999 in very poor shape and had been bred to a Shire stallion. She was able to deliver a healthy foal who has become a delight to her owner. Domfee enjoys her life in the pasture as a companion to Zutaten and provides a very grounding influence for all on the farm.
